Maxine Medina also talks about her preparations for the 2017 Miss Universe pageant in Manila.
After being crowned
at the Binibining Pilipinas pageant earlier this year, Maxine Medina admitted
her life has turned around a 180-degrees since she became Bb.
Pilipinas-Universe. "Yes, right after the coronation, imagine may 4 pm
call time, agad. After nun, straight, interviews, non-stop interviews for about
two months and then after, ayun na, training na. Everyday training. Like we
have J. Robert Powers every Tuesday and Thursday and then Dale Carnegie every
Wednesday and Friday. Ganun ka-hectic. Parang, ang day ko na lang for my rest
day is Sunday and then Saturday, Monday may training ako for fitness. Nag
gy-gym ako. So all of that, wala akong idea about pageants. So ngayon ko lang
sya natututunan within six months after winning the crown," she shared.
The 25-year-old interior
designer and model admitted that she never dreamed of joining the beauty
pageant circuit and that she had dreamed more of becoming a host someday.
"First time talaga ako sumali. Kaya nga parang, my God, everything is
overwhelming. Lahat ng pinagdadaanan ko ngayon parang, my God. In every sense
ang di-ne-dream ko talaga maging host, na I keep on wondering kung paano at
paano ko talaga sya matututunan. Ito na yung stepping stone ko to achieve it so
sobrang excited ako. Dream ko sya na I never thought na kaya kong gawin. And
that’s somehow, someday, na kaya ko pala syang gawin. Di ba?" she explained.
Maxine also said
she is thankful for her family's continuous support. "Every Sunday lagi
kaming lumalabas to eat outside. Tapos, ano lang, talagang bonding lang. As
much as possible every Sunday bonding with the family. Ganun. So parang siguro
na-earn yung, na-earn yung ano, learning from my parents that you have to
respect someone, to respect everyone, para ma-respect ka din nila. Be humble
all the time, at least, pray the Rosary. Laging ganun so feeling ko yun yung
parang nagb-brighten up sa akin to be myself on that stage," she said.
With the Miss
Universe pageant slated to happen on January 30 in Manila next year, Maxine
shared how she has been preparing herself mentally. "Nung narinig ko na dito
gagawin, medyo na-excite na ako. Eventually siyempre, kapag nasa ibang country
ka, yung, helpless ka eh. Ikaw lang lahat. Pero pag andito ako, at least family
ko nandiyan pati friends ko din," she said.
announcement mix-up with Pia Wurtzbach's coronation, how does Maxine feel that
the same American host Steve Harvey will be back to host the pageant?
"Nung una sabi ko nga Lord sana mangyari ulit, one more time. Gawin natin
sa Pilipinas, para maging controversial, di ba? (laughs)," she added.
