Iza Calzado talks about her exciting new soap and movie projects.
After doing mostly movie projects this year, Iza Calzado was happy to share that she is finally starting work on a new teleserye with Bea Alonzo and Ian Veneracion. The pretty actress said she is especially happy to be reunited again with Ian. "We’ve been working together for a long time. In Moments of Love siya yung naging husband ko tapos ka-love triangle ko siya nung kay Robin Padilla in a soap. Ang dami na namin pinagsamahan. I don’t know why (we got paired again) kasi it’s not like we’re a love team. It’s nothing like a Jodi-Ian love team. I think we just happen to be in the same projects (laughs). it’s not so much a love team,” she shared.
The series, which is slated for release early next year on ABS-CBN is something Iza has been looking forward to. Earlier this year, the 34-year-old actress took acting classes in Los Angeles to better her craft. "I think kasi our soap with Bea and Ian was moved to first quarter of next year so right now there’s not much of a rush. There’s other stuff na kumbaga in the works,” she added.
Aside from their already established good working relationship, Iza said she is sincerely happy for the success Ian has achieved lately. I’m just so happy for him with how his career has gone. The trajectory of his career at the moment because he’s always been there. I guess he just got married a little early in the game and at that time kasi iba yung panahon noon. Pag may pamilya na, hindi na nila masyado pinu-push to be a leading man. So it’s also a great time to be a married man these days. Dati pag kasal na wala na masyado. Bibihira lang. Ngayon I think times have changed. There’s Papa Chen (Richard Yap), there’s Ian re-defining the matinee idol. So I’m glad for them especially for Ian because Ian is a friend and I know him personally. I met his wife a long time ago. His kids they visited our set eh. But Pam I met her before pa. I haven’t seen her lately. I’m glad that we’re working on these projects together. He’s very professional. He’s fun to be on set with,” she said.
