Saying that he couldn’t be prouder, John Lloyd added, “Talagang hinigop ka ‘nung moment and talagang proud na proud ako para kay Lav. Proud na proud ako para sa Philippine cinema kasi I think Lav really elevated Philippine cinema ‘nung mga sandaling iyon.”

Although John Lloyd tried to hold back tears during the awarding ceremony, he couldn’t help them from flowing as, “Para sa akin, it was a defining moment for our own cinema, the Philippine cinema because you’re talking about the world stage. You’re talking about Venice International, one of the biggest so ang hirap hindi i-honor ‘yung ating nararamdaman because nandoon ka sa mga sandaling ‘yun and you were given the privilege, front row seats, para ma-witness ‘yung history. I feel so blessed.”

As Ang Babaeng Humayo, which also stars ABS-CBN’s Chief Content Officer Charo Santos, will soon hit local theaters, an excited John Lloyd hopes that people will get equally excited, “Because you have the privilege to see a film na gumawa po ng history sa international stage ng cinema.”

On Friday, September 16, John Lloyd will fly to Spain for the San Sebastian Film Festival with veteran actor Ronnie Lazaro for Hele Sa Hiwagang Hapis.

“I’ll be more than proud to represent our country,” he said, adding that he enjoys attending film festivals as they celebrate cinema as an art.

Likewise, John Lloyd is also happy that the Brillante Mendoza film, Ma’ Rosa became the official Philippine entry to the 2017 Academy Awards (Oscars) Best Foreign Film Category.

“We have an awesome film for the Oscars para sa Best Foreign Language. I mean Ma’ Rosa was stunning. Sobrang ganda ng Ma’ Rosa. Congratulations din kay Direk Brillante and to the one and only Ms. Jaclyn Jose. Congratulations, I saw it and I’m in awe,” he said.

Further, John Lloyd added, “I couldn’t be more happy and proud na Ma’ Rosa will represent us, ang buong bansa. Kinikilabutan ako. Ngayon pa lang po, congratulations na sa buong Ma’ Rosa team headed by Direk Brillante. Maraming, maraming salamat for representing our country.”
