Acoustic duo Migz and Maya, the singers behind the movie rendition of the song “Ambon” for How To Be Yours, finally released their debut album on Friday.
Their 16-track album predominantly includes covers and a few original hits. Among the songs they remade was Yeng Constantino’s composition “Paano Ba Ang Magmahal” which was first sang by Liezel Garcia and Erik Santos in 2012
However, the song gained a new kind of following after Piolo Pascual and Sarah Geronimo performed it in their 2015 movie The Breakup Playlist.
Interestingly, Maya or Angeli Flores, was a batchmate of the Popstar Princess while they were still competing at the singing show Star for a Night.
To this Maya said, “Co-compare? Hindi naman siguro kasi sobrang magkaibang version naman. Walang ganon.”
In fact, Maya says she wants to meet the popular performer now that she can perform in the Kapamilya network.
“Parang last ko siyang nakita when I was 14 years-old. Ang tagal na,” she said. “Pero I’m very happy for her right now. Sobrang deserve niya talaga ‘yun kasi alam ko ‘yung pinagdaanan niya from the start.”
Prior to becoming part of a duo, Maya used to be based in Los Angeles as part of the Pan-Asian girl group Blush.
Meanwhile, Migz or Miguel Haleco, echoed what Maya said.
“Para sa akin wala namang comparison parang ako mas gusto ko lang ang style ko,” he said.
In the end, Migz said preferences do vary from person-to-person.
“Depende naman eh. Hindi naman sa akin competition eh. Parang sari-sariling style lang talaga and ‘yun lang,” he shared.
The newest Star Music stars weren’t able to hide their excitement over their newest endeavor.
"We are very excited. Sana po ay suportahan nila sobra pong pinagpaguran namin lahat ng ito at sana ay magustuhan nila at ma-enjoy nila, katulad ng pag-enjoy namin sa paggawa ng album na ito," said Maya.
