Kathryn Bernardo on working with director Olivia Lamasan: ‘Talagang grabe yung pasasalamat namin’

091516-Bernardo_main.jpgWith the successful first day showing of her film Barcelona: A Love Untold, Kathryn Bernardo admitted it was worth all the hard work and patience it took to finish it.

At 20 years old, Kathryn said it was about time to play her most mature character to date with Daniel Padilla.

During her first time working with the veteran director, whom they lovingly call ‘Inang” on the set, Kathryn said she was able to bring out all her emotions needed for the part. "Pigang-piga. As in lahat dito talaga all-out talaga pag si Inang. Ang dami dami naming natutunan sa kanya,” she said.

Kathryn said their acting really leveled up and she revealed the biggest lesson in acting she learned on the set of Barcelona. "Ako natutunan ko yung pagiging totoo sa emosyon na hindi yung i-a-arte mo lang yung emosyon kasi kung pupunta ka on a deeper level mas totoo pag napanuod ng tao, mas makaka-relate sila and walang makakatalo dun eh pag pinakita mo yung totoong emosyon. Hindi siya madali kung paano mo yun makukuha pero pag makuha mo mas mararamdaman mo rin na tama,” she said.

Known for being a strict director, Kathryn said she and DJ were not spared from being given sermons on the set. "Marami. Yung paglakad, yung pagtingin, paghinga, lahat yun. Sabi namin ni DJ parang nag-back to zero kami kasi parang yung pinag-aralan namin dati hindi pa enough. Ang dami pa namin kailangan i-prove and masaya kami, naging open talaga kami kay Inang para sa mga new learnings,” she recalled.

If there’s one thing Kathryn finds unforgettable with the whole project, it was her working relationship with her director. "Siguro yung lahat ng natutunan namin forever namin dadalhin yun kahit saan kami magpunta and grabe yung pasasalamat namin kasi yung binigay dito na dedication ni Inang talagang grabe nakikita namin kung paano niya inalagaan itong project na ito at masayang-masaya kami kasi nahawakan niya kami. Sana hindi ito yung last kasi grabe ang saya saya namin sa lahat ng ginawa namin because tinulungan niya talaga kami,” she added.
