“I have two sets of grandparents. From my dad’s side, I enjoy driving around in my grandpa’s cars. He has a lot of nice cars in England like Porsche and Mercedes. I really enjoy that. In the Philippines, I really enjoy with my grand dad making me handmade drumsticks. He used to give me pet chickens. And he used to get me pets like a lizard and a chicken. Both sides are very good.”

Inigo Pascual

“Sa school ko dati we actually had a grandparents day. That daw was special kasi it’s rare na makasama ko yung both grandparents in one event. Tapos we made a Christmas tree out off plastic bags sa school so that was very memorable. I was in fifth grade then kaya kahit sobrang tagal na memorable pa rin sa akin. Lolo’s boy ako kasi sa States since my dad lived far away from me or I lived far away from the Philippines so siya yung tumayong parang dad ko sa States tapos first apo ako. So siyempre pag first ka ikaw yung pinaka-spoiled so he got me my first phone and he’d always like spoil me. He would call me his prince so parang nakikita ko sa Facebook he’d write, ‘I miss my prince.’”

Piolo Pascual

“I remember my lola telling stories about the World War because my lola lived to 101 years old and growing up in the ‘80s she would share stories about how she had to deal with the bombings, how she had to deal with the invaders na mga Japanese and British. It’s so vivid to me. I would just sit down and listen to her stories all day. I was really young, between five and 10 years old and my lola was very sharp. So I guess that was my first taste of cinema in my head because the way she was making kuwento was very vivid and very visual so I’ve always been fascinated by wars. So growing up I had my lola selflessly sharing stories about life in the war in the ‘40s."

Baron Geisler

“I was a lola’s boy. I remember when I was five years old, every nine in the evening hindi ako nakakatulog na hindi ako nakapatong sa lap ng mommy ko. Gusto ko magpa-hele. Tapos nagalit yung lola ko na parang, ‘Sige na patulugin mo na si Baron!’ eh nag-uusap pa sila and my lola just got me and cradled me in her arms. Siya na yung nagbantay sa akin matulog. Because during that time my mom was very busy with work. Mama’s boy kasi ako at hanggang mama’s boy pa rin!”

Khalil Ramos

“The time we went to Disneyland in the States. Of course Disneyland is a super happy place and it was really memorable for me and my family and grandparents.”

Marco Gumabao

“Siguro yung lagi kaming pumupunta sa house nila to swim and lagi kaming may chocolates from my lolo and lola. Pero sadly now all of them wala na sila so matagal na rin since nung last na nakasama ko sila. My last lola died siguro mga seven years ago."

Bugoy Drilon

“Kasi yung lola and lolo ko they live far sa amin kaya nung nasa probinsya ako pag nagbabakasyon kami masaya kasi ang daming naka-ready na pagkain. Yun yung na-mi-miss namin na hindi kami napabayaan ng mga lolo at lola namin na walang pagkain sa bahay at that time. Noon nung buhay pa sila ang paborito ko yung nilaga nila.”
