Although he is grateful, Daniel Padilla downplayed how his Barcelona: A Love Untold director Olivia Lamasan likened him to Aga Muhlach.
The seasoned director made the comparison at a recent blogger’s conference just when Daniel was still in New York for ASAP.
In an exclusive interview with Daniel on Friday, September 9, he claimed that he heard about what Inang, as she’s fondly called in the business, said about him.
“Siyempre nakakahiya kay Aga Muhlach,” he said with a laugh.
“Siyempre ano, alam mo naman itong si Aga Muhlach napakalupit na tao, napakagaling umarte. And para sabihin niya na next daw ako, thanks Inang! I love you so much,” he continued.
Inang directed Aga in his hit film Sana Maulit Muli opposite his erstwhile love team partner Lea Salonga in 1995.
Daniel’s latest movie offering with his perennial love team partner Kathryn Bernardo was shot in Barcelona, Spain, an experience, which he described to be “magical.”
With their film showing this Wednesday, Daniel is very much excited to hear about the reactions of the people who would see their film.
“‘Yun ang di ko alam, parang excited lang ako sa sasabihin nila. Parang kami ni Kathryn binigay lang namin ang best namin sa pelikulang ito,” he said.
The heartthrob has been very vocal about the immense training and the one-of-a-kind experience that he got after working with the highly-acclaimed director.
What kind of actor is he nowadays?
“I think, iba na. Parang mas seryoso. Hindi pwedeng simple-simple lang ang acting kahit gaano kadali,” he said.
These days, Daniel said he has come to establish a different type of standard when it comes to breathing to life to scenes.
“Kailangan alam mo ang nangyayari sa eksena, alam mo ang pinanggagalingan and always 100% ang ibibigay,” he pointed out.
On a personal level he stressed, “‘Wag kang aalis sa set na parang alam mo ‘yun, parang half-hearted ang ginawa mo. Talagang dapat after ng eksena happy ka sa ginawa mo.”
