PBA player Gabe Norwood hopes the Olympic victory will push younger athletes to do their best.
PBA player Gabe Norwood of Rain or Shine Elasto Painters hopes that athletes will take inspiration from Hidilyn Diaz who brought pride to the country after winning a silver medal in the female weightlifting division at the Rio Olympics 2016.
“Congratulations, first and foremost. It’s truly inspiring to see not just a Filipino but a woman to go out and really perform at the top of her class and put the country back on the podium like where we deserve to be. Hopefully, younger athletes will really use that as inspiration and even current athletes to go out and be the best that we can,” he told Push.com.ph.
Meanwhile, Gabe was present during the August 9 media launch of Naxional South American Diner, a restaurant in Uptown Parade, BGC, where he is a partner.
According to him, he and his wife Lei were inspired by their honeymoon in Peru where they went to Machu Picchu and Lima, among others. “It basically sparked our interest for South American food… It really got us curious what other types of cuisine was out there in terms of South America,” he said, adding that fast forward to two years, they decided to jumped on the opportunity to invest in a South American diner.
Apart from playing for the PBA and their new restaurant, Gabe is also an investor in 360 Pro gym.
