Although the two have maintained that they are just good friends, Sofia revealed they have both met each other’s families.
After celebrating her 18th birthday last August 24, Sofia Andres admitted she was overwhelmed by all the love she got from friends and family during her debut celebration which had a black and white edgy theme and was secretly organized by her older sister Lara with the help of family and friends. "Nine-nerbiyos pa rin ako pero happy and blessed kasi kasama ko yung family and friends ko at saka pumunta sila for this night. Actually hindi ko siya naramdaman (na 18 na ako). Shocked pa din ako (laughs). Naramdaman ko talaga na birthday ko and wish ko sa sarili ko health yung una and sana yung wish ko na wish ko matupad, yun. Yun talaga,” Sofia shared.
Aside from her closest friends from grade school and high school, Sofia’s closest friends in showbiz were in attendance, including Elisse Joson, Sue Ramirez. Kristel Fulgar, Jane Oineza, Michelle Vito, Rayver Cruz, Andrea Brillantes, Bailey May, Ylona Garcia, Igi Boy Flores, Kamille Filoteo, Khalil Ramos, Loisa Andalio, Marco Gumabao, Dominic Roque, Loisa Andalio, and Robi Domingo.
Sofia’s new love team partner Diego Loyzaga (and rumored suitor) also served as her escort for the night. The two admitted they are excited to start taping their new television project in September. Sofia said she has already received many sweet gifts from him even before her birthday. "Kasi lagi siyang may dala sa akin eh. Kundi roses or chocolates pagka galing siyang Australia. Na-appreciate ko naman siya kasi yung effort niya talaga. And sometimes kunwari pag gusto niya pumunta sa bahay eh bawal talaga so pinapaintindi ko sa kanya na, ‘Diegs, slow down (laughs)’ Pero he’s very nice and gentleman. Very sweet din talaga,” she revealed.
Although she said her focus will always be her career at this stage in her life, Sofia admitted she and Diego have gotten closer especially after doing workshops with Star Magic almost everyday. The pretty actress shared why she thinks their friendship will be an advantage once they start working on their new show. "Sa friendship naming dalawa mas siya kasi yung mas ma-talk. Ako yung listener, yung receiver. Hindi kami mahihirapan if ever sa mga scenes namin together,” she added.
Although the two have maintained that they are just good friends, Sofia revealed they have both met each other’s families. She recalled how she felt when she met Diego’s parents Cesar Montano and Teresa Loyzaga on separate occasions. "Ininvite niya ako to have dinner with his dad. Nahiya kasi talaga ako. Awkward ako in front of people so ako sabi ko, ‘Naku Diegs kinakabahan talaga ako.’ So siya sabi niya, ‘Hindi okay lang yan.’ So na-meet ko yung mom din niya. Nag-dinner na din kami. Mabait naman sila. Naramdaman ko naman yung very warm (sila),” she said.
