Jaya was quick to explain that her move to ABS-CBN did not really cost her any friendships from her former network.
If anything, the Queen of Soul, in a recent pocket press conference, underscored that she sees nothing wrong with her network switch.
“I don't see any problem with that, trabaho talaga is trabaho. Ganun lang siya kasimple,” she pointed out.
The “Wala Na Bang Pag-Ibig” singer feels nothing but gratitude that she was cared for by her past network for 18 years.
“I've made family there, ang dami ko nang naging kumare at kumpare, including some of the bosses and directors, lahat... writers,” she said.
Jaya explained that her transfer has caused her to under go a “big adjustment.”
“Alam niyo naman, sa GMA medyo kakaiba ang kultura dun, lahat barkada, kahit na yung sa cafeteria barkada namin,” Jaya said.
If anything, Jaya reiterated that her “family” at her previous network has been a huge reason why she had a hard time leaving the network.
Since she first appeared on It’s Showtime almost five weeks ago, Jaya’s friend Regine Velasquez has been very vocal about what she thought of her move.
“She texted me about it, and I’m happy for her. That’s okay,” Regine said in a report. “I’m happy that she’s there.”
“You know, kumare ko ‘yon. Nakakatawa nga kasi she didn’t have to do it, na to let me know, but she did it anyway because she has so much respect for me,” she added.
Apparently Jaya is well aware about the Asia’s Songbird’s comments about her transfer to the press.
“Kaya kapag kami, ‘Nakakatawa ano ba ito. Parang pati ‘yun nai-issue,’” she said. “But I don’t blame anyone for that pero ‘yun talaga, okay kami. Okay kami. Very supportive siya ng bonggang-bongga.”
Are there instances when she and Regine influenced each other’s career decisions?
“Walang ganon. There are certain things na hindi niyo na paguusapan kasi you trust the friendship more,” she said.
Jaya continued, “Like I said, the closeness I have with Regine goes beyond work. Actually ang kinaki-excite namin ngayon is papano kami magsasamama-sama sa isang show or concert maybe. Never pa ‘yun nangyari eh, Lani [Misalucha], Regine and Jaya.”
Jaya is currently one of the judges on It’s Showtime’s Tawag ng Tanghalan.
