Ogie Alcasid on Regine Velasquez: ‘I am comfortable with the fact that she is the star in the family

082016-OgieAlcasid_main.jpgOn Tonight with Boy Abunda, singer-songwriter Ogie Alcasid talked about how his new album Ikaw Ang Buhay Ko is an anniversary gift to his wife, Regine Velasquez.

“Wala akong ibang maisip na regalo, alam mo naman asawa ko, lahat na nasa kanya. Ang pinaka-gwapong lalake nasa kanya. So I thought maybe an album totally dedicated to her [would be the best gift].”

He added, “Alam mo si Regine, she never sings to me. Ayaw niya, nahihiya siya sa akin. Ako naman yung kanta ng kanta sa kanya. Minsan sabi ko, ‘halika, magtinginan lang tayo.’ Tapos ayaw niya, nako-conscious siya for some reason - so ako yung kumakanta sa kanya.”

Throughout the course of the interview, his love for his wife was very palpable. He further shared, “nakakatawa siyang tao. Alam mo kagabi, nakita ko tulog na. Si Regine, pagnatutulog yan, naka-dekwatro. And then basta, she is obviously our Song Bird. She’s a superstar. And I’m comfortable with that. I am comfortable with the fact that she is the star in the family.”

In their five years of marriage, “one of the first challenges was having a baby. Because at our age, we didn’t know we would have a Nate. Kaya Nathaniel ang pangalan ni Nate because he is really a gift from God. Regine kind of had problems when we were delivering Nate. At our age, miracle baby siya.”

During the interview, Ogie said, “I think that we should all embrace that we are getting old, but we should never lose the child in us.” He also shared that, “laughing, singing, and music – I think music is such a gift that if you perform it, if you listen to a lot of music, it really rejuvenates. Music heals and it makes you forget.”

During the segment Fast Talk, Boy asked, “oo o hindi, gusto mo bang maging regular sa ASAP?” Ogie answered, “puwede guest na lang muna?”
