The Quezon City mayor vowed not to use his power and influence to save his brother from sanctions.
According to those who were present during a close-door department heads meeting last August 10, Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista turned ‘emotional’ as he admitted that his brother Hero is one of the 36 city councilors who failed in the recent voluntary drug test.
Hero was recently proclaimed as a councilor in the 4th district of Quezon City. He tested positive for marijuana and “shabu” (methamphetamine hydrochloride).
According to the Inquirer’s sources, Herbert promised that his brother would undergo “drug and spiritual counseling” and that he wouldn’t use his power to save Hero from future sanctions.
As of the moment, there is still no concrete plan regarding the probable sanctions of officials who are found positive during the drug test.
