John Lloyd Cruz received his Star Asia Award at this year’s New York Asian Film Festival for his role in the movie Honor Thy Father.
Teen actress Therese Malvar also represented the country when she accepted the Screen International Rising Star Award for her exemplary performance in Hamog.
Both artists are the first Filipinos to have been given these honors in the prestigious film festival.
