Next year will mark another momentous event for the Philippines as the Department of Tourism confirmed earlier that the Philippines will host the 2017 Miss Universe.
It was confirmed that the pageant will be held at the Mall of Asia Arena on January 30 next year and the funding will come from the private sector.
Early this year, there were already speculations that the Philippines will be the host country for the upcoming Miss Universe.
The announcement was made after President Rodrigo Duterte issued a statement that the government is not willing to fund the international pageant.
Filipino fans are hopeful that Maxine Medina, the country's representative to the pageant, will bring home the crown in January, for a possible back-to-back win.
