EXCLUSIVE: Janella Salvador on handling fame: ‘It will never get to my head’
072516-JanellaSalvador_PUSH.jpgAs the star of the Primetime Bida series Born For You, Janella Salvador admitted she is overwhelmed by the high ratings of her series. "Well before we started kasi we were just hoping for the best. I don’t know, sobrang I’m just so happy that our show reached 20.1% sa ratings on our first week which is already so big for me kasi first of all, first primetime show ko ito. So far I’m just so happy and I can’t believe it’s getting higher,” she told PUSH.

The 18-year-old actress said she feels more inspired to work after all the positive feedback Born For You has been getting on social media as well. "Siyempre sobrang supportive ng fans even before the show started and I’m so grateful for that. Pero yung tweets na nababasa ko kahit na hindi sila part ng fans club na kinikilig daw sila, dun ako natutuwa kasi ibig sabihin even casual viewers are enjoying the show. Wala, dun ako tuwang tuwa talaga and even celebrities yata nag-ti-tweet din like si Gretchen Ho, yung wife ni Julius Babae si Cristine Babao ayun natutuwa ako sa mga tweets,” she revealed.

With the show’s steadily growing popularity, Janella says she is too busy to worry about being compared to other shows. "Siyempre we’re all hoping na ma-maintain yung ratings namin. And we’re just enjoying our work. Hindi naman kami nakikipag-compete dinsa ibang shows. We didn’t expect anything. For all of us first time ito. Siguro ako I always criticize myself before others get to criticize me. Siguro it’s an advantage din kasi it will never get to my head and I will push myself to get even better the next time so ganun ako,” she said.

While working with her Born For You co-star Elmo Magalona over the past few months, Janella admits that she discovered that they actually have a lot in common. "Probably we’re so much alike in how we treat ourselves like on how we view our work. I think it’s both an advantage and a disadvantage na pagdating sa work ako yung worst critic ko so I criticize myself before others and I guess same kami dun. And we help each other,” she shared.

After watching her former teleserye co-stars Jodi Sta. Maria and Richard Yap pair up again in the recent Star Cinema hit Achy Breaky Hearts, Janella said she was excited to watch the film. "Nung nalaman ko nga namagkakasama ulit si Papa Chen and si Tita Jods sobrang natuwa ako kasi reunion tapos nagkita pa kami sa ASAP nila Jerome so reunion ng Be Careful with my Heart. Jerome and I are both so happy for them na may follow up project pa sila na hindi namin inakala,” she recalled.

Still close friends with another former co-star Jerome Ponce, who she still gets to see in ASAP every week, Janella said she would be open to working with him again. "Definitely naman if given the opportunity I would work with him din naman. Kasi hindi mo naman masasabi kung sino yung makaka-work mo in the future. It would be nice to work with him din naman kasi kami yung nag-start together,” she explained.
