The glow you see in Loisa Andalio up close is surely nothing less than invigorating.
It was the mid-evening and weary as we were from a long work day, we never expected how things could really turn so sassy and bright as she entered the room.
The glow you see in Loisa Andalio up close is surely nothing less than invigorating.
Yet what’s more charming about this 17-year-old star out of Pinoy Big Brother: All-In in 2014 is that she sees her surge in fame as nothing more than having a good day in the office.
“Parang work ko lang to. Tapos pag back to normal, back to normal talaga yung buhay ko,” Loisa emphasizes. Even with the top-rating weekend program, Wansapanatym: Candy’s Crush, Loisa never loses precious time for people who matter to her.
“Mahilig kami kumain sa labas, mag-mall ganoon,” Loisa reveals—an opportunity that’s quite far-fetched among fellow young celebrities.
Closely knit family
As she revels in her prominence, Loisa still relishes those simple joys of anonymity when she can—all in the company of her parents Leo and Sandie, and her siblings Louis and Leona.
It is also quite a given that they too have some degree of involvement and support in her actual showbiz career.
And, they never lose touch, even during frantic and frenzied moments while taping scenes for her shows or performing on It’s Showtime as a member of GirlTrends or on ASAP.
While she is strengthened by her closely knit family, it is her own will and passion that drives her to hone her craft and become the best she can be as an artist—her long held dream as the bubbly “Talented Darling ng Paranaque.”
Mga ganun talaga,” Loisa said.
Realizing her fascination, an aunt enrolled her in a Star Magic workshop when she was 11. She was exposed to the rudiments of acting and performing that led her to a professional stint with a girl group called 3G in her early teens, even as she was a scholar and consistent honor student in her high school in Paranaque City.
Then after performing in a string of mall shows and festivals around the country, Loisa and her bandmates made what they foresaw as a life-changing decision: auditioning for Pinoy Big Brother: All-In. Actually, it also had been Loisa’s dream to enter Bahay Ni Kuya.
“Lagi kong dinadaanan yung Big Brother house. Mahilig ako dun manood ng PBB before,” she said.
Then, time came when she walked in the audition with her fellow 3G members at the Pinoy Dream Academy Hall, which is located beside the Big Brother House.
“Triny namin.
Then as the audition progressed, Loisa began to notice things went in her favor.
“Tapos biglang tinawag yung number ko. Sabi ko, ‘hala! Totoo ba tong audition?’ Sabi ko, ‘totoo pala to noh?!
And there she was—realizing that indeed her life would change forever.
During her stay at the PBB house, Loisa mentioned one important takeaway that made her grow as a person. That is, she became closer to God.
This closeness led to a lot of blessings, especially after the season ended. Even if she was the last evictee before the Big 4 was announced, she took it in stride and looked beyond it, keeping the faith that things will turn out even better.
And it did.
First teleserye and LoiShua
Yung Nasaan Ka Nang Kailangan Kita. Kasama ko po si (fellow PBB housemate) Jane (Oineza), Ms Vina Morales, Denise. Na-ano ako, parang ‘Wow! Vina Morales and Denise Laurel!’ parang dati, napapanood ko lang sila tapos ngayon, kasama ko na sila,” she remarked.
This became an awesome jumpstart to her showbiz career as her good chemistry and kilig vibes with fellow housemate Joshua Garcia became a fan craze with the loveteam LoiShua hogging the limelight as the show went on its 10-month run in 2015.
She was then paired with Yves Flores in Be My Lady and Jerome Ponce in Wansapanatym: Candy’s Crush.
But for Loisa, who among them made the biggest impact in her life and is truly closest to her heart?
“Kasi madami akong naka-partner ngayon eh. Si Joshua, si Yves, si Jerome Ponce ngayon (in Wansapanatym). Kasi si Joshua, PBB house palang po and kasama ko na siya, close na po kami and tapos Nasan Ka Nang Kailangan Kita, kami pa yung love team. Tapos nag-MMK kami, kami yung love team. So wala naman akong favorite sa kanila eh, lahat naman sila pantay lang pero si Joshua talaga yung matagal kong nakasama and siya yung ngayon mas alam kong kilala ko yung ugali niya,” Loisa declared.
What makes Joshua special to her, she says, is that they just simply enjoy each other’s company.
“Kapag magkasama kami, puro kalokohan. Puro kalokohan talaga yung trip namin, yung alam namin puro kumain. Mga ganun yung ginagawa namin,” she said.
More challenging roles
But more than the love team or pairing she is in, Loisa looks forward to different, more challenging roles; a portrayal that will bring out her best as an actress and make her discover more about herself as a person.
Her role in Wansapanatym: Candy’s Crush, for example, is something she really wanted because it is different from her previous portrayals.
And, what’s even more special about this is the fact that it truly depicts the real Loisa!
“Kasi ako talaga yung Loisa, palaban ako. Totoo.
Genuine and real
Being genuine and real embodies Loisa, a fact she says that won’t change whatever fortunes or failures she encounters in life.
She adds: “Kahit nababatuk-batukan pa rin nila ako hanggang ngayon.
Change for the better
And of course, changing herself for the better, which Star Magic inculcates in its talents, including Loisa, as it marks its 25th year in molding and charting the careers of extraordinary artists. Loisa, for one, has achieved a fit and healthy lifestyle since signing with Star Magic after leaving the PBB house.
“Sabi lang nila, kumain ako ng tama sa oras and mga gulay, importante, and mag-work out. Wag mong ike-crave yung sarili mo,” she noted.
Aside from a strict diet, Loisa also goes on cardio workouts almost daily and this led to her firmer, svelte physique.
“Mahilig ako mag-work out na ngayon, dati hindi. Pagnagwo-work out ako noon, parang once a week,” Loisa revealed
Her career goals? Emulate an entertainer like Sarah Geronimo, a versatile, exceptional performer yet humble and simple in real life.
And with traits similar to her idol and stellar feats like garnering nominations in the PUSH Awards Most Loved Newcomer (Twitter) and the Star Awards for TV Best New Female TV Personality only a year after entering showbiz, Loisa Andalio is definitely on the right track.
