On Tonight with Boy Abunda, Philippines’ Queen of Soul Jaya talked about her transition from her previous network as well as the recent passing of her mom, Elizabeth Ramsey.
“I miss her so much,” Jaya said of her mom. “But at the same time when she was taken away from me and my family, and friends, and everyone, parang handang handang handa ako. By the grace of God, I think he just gave it all to me na, ‘you know what? Ganito. Pagnagkasakit ang nanay mo, madali lang ‘yan. Pagnawala siya, madali lang ‘yan.’ Everything was so easy even for her.”
After saying that, Boy can’t help but comment, “you’re blessed,” which the singer acknowledged and replied, “I would certainly accept that because I feel like ‘yun naman ang laging hinihiling ng nanay ko – i-bless ako.”
When asked if she’s now officially with the Kapamilya network, Jaya jokingly replied, “sakit tiyan ko! Parang kinabagan ako sa tanong mo, Tito Boy.” Kidding aside, the singer confirmed, “right now I am a Kapamilya, I would have to say.” And added, “ito po ay kagagawan ng Panginoong Diyos. Parang nagkaroon ng 20 year period of change pero parang naibalik lang ako sa kung saan din ako nakatungtong noon.”
Jaya said she is grateful to both her previous and current network. She said, “I am very, very grateful for my home before for giving me the opportunity to grow and I’ve had such wonderful memories - ang dami kong natutunan. Nagkaanak ako doon sa kabilang station na matatawag ko rin namang tahanan. Maraming nagbigay sa akin ng opportunities doon, and like any child sometimes you have to grow up and you want to break free from something you’re so used to doing and fly. And for me, flying now, and doing this with ABS-CBN is something that I know God has planned for me.”
“So please, don’t get upset,” Jaya begged her fans. “Tanggapin po natin na lahat tayo kailangan din nating gawin yung mga desisyon na ang nakasalalay po ay yung kabuhayan namin. May mga anak po ako, hindi ko po ginagawa ito out of selfish reasons. I know that God brought me here and I have to abide by that.”
