Princess Punzalan reveals that people would recognize her while working as a nurse abroad.
Last seen in the
recently concluded primetime TV series, The
Story of Us, actress Princess Punzalan will be returning to the United
States on July 8 to continue her life abroad. Princess, who is married to an
American citizen and has a two-year-old daughter named Elle, is working as a
nurse in the US.
Best known for her
kontrabida roles on TV, Princess, who was at the press conference for Drs.
Manny and Pie Calayan’s new clinic launch, said that although, “Right now,
there are talks going on for other projects in the future,” there is nothing
official yet. For now, “Babalik muna ako sa pagiging isang ina at nurse.”
Talking about her
career as a nurse, Princess shared, “Okay naman, very challenging because it’s
a totally different career pero it’s always nice to know that there’s something
else that you can do. Kung sakaling ayoko na dito, pwedeng something else and
besides, even if I don’t really work as a nurse anymore, malaking advantage
niya bilang isang ina because you would know how to take care of your family.”
Princess shared a
story wherein she was able to practice her profession practically. She
narrated, “Lalo na’t minsan nagbakasyon kami, biglang nagkasakit ‘yung anak ko
habang nasa bakasyon, wala kaming ospital na mapuntahan, alam ko gagawin ko.
For practicality’s sake, mas madaling mag-alaga ng pamilya ‘pag alam mo ‘yung
mga dapat mong gawin at hindi dapat gawin.”
When asked if
people recognize her at work, Princess said yes. “Minsan nagugulat sila habang
hine-head to toe assessment ko sila, nakikita nila ako tapos sinasabi nila, ‘di
ba ikaw si Princess Punzalan?’” she said, adding that they would ask to take a
picture with her. Princess also admitted that sometimes when she is pressed for
time, she would just tell the patient when told, “Kamukha mo si Princess
Punzalan,” “Marami nga pong nagsabi.” Nonetheless, she said that she would more
often talk to them.
“Okay lang naman
sa akin. Nagugulat lang ‘yung mga non-Filipino na mga doctors and nurses, staff
because bakit daw nagpapapicture sa akin ‘yung mga pasyente,” she added.
Princess, she never tells her co-workers that she is famous. She said that she
only tells them that she has done a few TV shows and movies.
Sharing why she
decided to become a nurse, Princess revealed she dreamt of becoming a doctor during
her teenage years. But since she does not want to study for many years, she
decided that nursing is the better choice for her.
