Michelle ventured overseas almost four years ago simply to try her luck in Malaysia with one Chinese song in her repertoire.
Now, Michelle was able to fulfill one of her biggest dreams--that is to have her own international album.
Michelle shared with Push.com.ph in an interview at Warner Music Malaysia that HiPnotic took her and her team at Worldwide Platinum Records two years to complete.
But even though she is now a certified performer abroad, Michelle remains proud that she is a Filipina.
In fact, she fondly recalled the moments when she met her "batchmates" Sarah Geronimo and Bea Alonzo.
"Aksidente lang. Kasama niya si Direk Bobot [Mortiz], si Bea sa EDSA Shangri-La," she said of meeting the How To Be Yours actress in 2012 while performing at the famed hotel.
According to Michelle she was already based in Malaysia at that time.
"I was having a vacation in Manila and 'yun kilala niya parin ako nakakatuwa naman na kahit superstar na siya [kilala niya pa ako]," said Michelle.
"Tapos ine-encourage niya ako na mag-The Voice eh hindi pwede kasi aalis nako nu'n," the "Love" singer recalled.
Despite Bea's prodding, Michelle said she opted not to join the contest because she's the nervous type.
Michelle did not mask her surprise that Bea still recognizes her.
"Oo kasi sikat na siya eh, so nahihiya akong lumapit pero naka-smile naman ako. Tapos siya talaga 'yung 'Hoy Michelle!" said Michelle.
Aside from Bea, Michelle shared that she also met another "batchmate" in the person of Sarah Geronimo.
"Nakita ko siya sa Greenbelt two years ago. Nag-coffee kami," she shared.
Sarah and Michelle were both on the famed ‘90s youth-oriented show AngTV.
"Nag-AngTV siya kaso last batch na siya eh. Nauna ako sa kanya," she shared.
Michelle said that Sarah asked how her career was and where she was based at the moment.
Michelle's first international album HiPnotic has seven tracks and is now available on Spotify and iTunes.
