Actress and host Donita Rose admitted that she is now separated from businessman Eric Villarama, her husband of 12 years.
During her guesting on Good Times With Mo the Podcast on Tuesday, July 12, a caller asked Donita about a certain Instagram picture of her husband with another woman. This photo was allegedly posted by her husband in his account.
“You know a lot of people have been asking but I’ll talk about it when I’m ready. But, for the time being, I’ve just been advised to not say anything about it until something specifically happens. So I’m just waiting and I promise that I’ll let you know when I’m ready,” she answered.
Insistent, the caller asked if it was the long-distance relationship that took a toll on their marriage to which Donita said, “It’s not the long distance part that… It’s other things too.”
Asked by DJ Mo if she was disappointed by the Instagram post, the former MTV VJ admitted, “Well, yeah, absolutely. Actually, I only found out when I guested the last time, couple of days ago,” adding that she does not want to talk about it further.
Later, she revealed that although they have been trying to fix their relationship which went on and off for two years already, it was a shock for her to see the Instagram post. She said that she already talked about it with her husband, who apologized.
Saying that the separation was a very painful and devastating experience, Donita said, “Now, I’m in a position where I’m just now starting to, I would say, heal and move on. I can’t actually say anything without maybe breaking down or anything so that’s why I’m not exactly ready yet to say anything but when the time comes in that I’m much better, I will be more than willing to share my story with other people.”
Tearful, Donita said that there were times wherein she would question why it has to happen to her when she did everything she could. She said that it’s also very hard when there are kids involved, in their case, their only son.
“But one thing that I take comfort in knowing is that sometimes God has to work through adversity. We don't really learn a lot through the good times. It's really through the trials and difficulties you really start seeking answers, really turning to God,” she said, adding that everything that has happened to her has made her a better person.
