On Tonight with Boy Abunda, singer Abby Asistio shared how she met chairman and CEO of Facebook Mark Zuckerberg.
She recounted how a woman from California named Rachel Regal was touched by her story. Abby has a condition called Alopecia and she has been blogging and creating awareness about it. And then, “Meron po pala siyang kakilala sa Facebook and there’s this woman in the Philippines that touched my life.”
Abby is one of the 18 people invited by Facebook to visit their headquarters. “Nagkaroon po kami ng open forum, intimate group… Parang iba-iba kami ng stories yung mga naimbitahan dun na 18. Kami ni Rachel are stories about Alopecia, meron naman their love story nabuo sa Facebook.
Asked why Mark wanted to meet them, Abby explained, “He wanted to know who were the real people that were using Facebook. It's a celebration of friends and for them ito yung mga stories na kailangan marinig ng mundo.”
Even now that her hair has grown back, Abby continues sharing her story about her battle with Alopecia. She has also come out with a self-titled album and one of the songs in the album is called “Beautiful.” Asked what real beauty is, Abby says, “being able to embrace who you are, the good and the bad as well as the beautiful things in your life.”
