It’s Showtime’s Hashtags’ member Tom Doromal, who is from Davao, said that he is proud of Rodrigo Duterte who was elected president of the country after years of serving as Davao City mayor.
Defending the president-elect from bashers, he said during the press conference for Hashtags’ self-titled debut album, “Medyo na-ooff ako sa mga tao na sinasabi gano’n si Duterte, gano’n, kasi ako, I’ll defend Duterte kasi I’m originally from Davao, iba ‘yung ways niya sa Davao kasi ‘yung mga mindset ng mga tao, sobrang… anong term nun? Parang hindi sila open-minded sa mga decisions ni Duterte which they didn’t experience pa. So ako, sobrang proud, of course.”
When later asked for his reaction regarding the criticisms that the new president has been facing for his behavior, he answered, “He’s been like that for like almost 40 years na eh. Ano lang, just accept him. Tanggap mo lang siguro siya. (That’s what) we did sa Davao eh, we accept him and follow his rules so that’s what happened to Davao.”
Meanwhile, talking about the specific regulations in Davao that he wants Duterte to carry over in the different parts of the country, Tom enumerated, “First of all, cleanliness tapos discipline. I hate traffic. Walang traffic sa Davao, at saka corruption.”
