Miss Philippines-Earth 2016 Imelda Bautista Schweighart admitted that she had a difficult experience with her fellow contestants during the recently concluded beauty pageant.
In an interview with the Philippine Daily Inquirer, she revealed, “I’m a victim of pageant bullying. There were vicious women in the pageant. Everybody hated me.
“I lost my pageant heels, foundation and my only eye-shadow palette. Someone got those before coronation night. The heels are essential because they improve my height. I’m surprised they went missing because I’m a very organized person. They were stolen, and my fellow candidates didn’t help,” she further shared.
Imelda pointed out that the other candidates were trying to pull her down because she was winning awards during the pre-pageant competition.
The Palawan native also revealed that she got sick because of a certain oil she acquired from her co-candidate.
“She told me it’s a brain booster. That’s what’s written on the bottle. It smelled like eucalyptus. I won’t name names, but I trusted the girl who gave it to me, so I took it before I entered the room. But it made my sinuses act up and gave me a sore throat. I still felt sick until coronation [night]. I even got a toothache and I felt pain all over,” she said.
Imelda also felt bad when her fellow candidates were all chanting ‘London,’ when it came to the announcement of the winners of the final two crowns. She and Kiara Giel Gregorio (who was from the Filipino community in London) were the last two women standing in the pageant.
She related that when she was crowned Miss Philippines-Earth 2016, every one rushed to Kiara’s side to congratulate and take selfies with her.
Imelda said she took solace from the older mentors of the pageant and shared her experiences with former Miss Earth winners Jamie Herell and Angelia Ong.
The model-turned-TV personality is determined to take the crown for the third time in a row in this year’s Miss Earth Pageant to be held on October in Korea.
