Meanwhile Janice also recognized the fact that our local movies choose not to go mainstream screening abroad because most of the movie makers are scared of taking risks.
“Segurista kasi tayo, eh. We want to be sure na what we're going to do is going to make money. I really believe we have talented actors, we have so much talent here in the country [that we do] not see internationally only because we choose to be a segurista,” she added.
Various Filipinos were given recognition abroad recently. Jake Cuenca won Best Actor at the Brazil Cinema Festival for the movie Mulat (Awaken). Sid Lucero was also awarded as Best Actor at the 19th Los Angeles Comedy Festival for the film Toto. Jaclyn Jose won Best Actress at the Cannes Film Festival for the movie Ma’ Rosa.
