Having grown up in the United Kingdom, Kira Balinger admitted that even though she’s happy to be living in the Philippines, she still misses some parts of European living. "Siguro yung weather because we had four seasons. So I miss the snow, definitely the snow. But now we’re staying here for good,” she told Push.com.ph.
Kira said she was happy to join Star Magic even though it took a while before she got her first big break in showbiz. "I signed up two years ago and I did workshops and this year I got launched in The Story of Us,” she recalled. In the popular Primetime Bida soap she plays the role of Kim Chiu’s half-sister Caitlyn and got to go to New York City to shoot their scenes along with Zsa Zsa Padilla who played her onscreen mother. "Working in the States was like the best part of the show because you get to see new surroundings and also your acting changes while you're there. So it was really fun. We stayed in a hotel. Kim and Zsa Zsa they’re the best people to be around. They never run out of topics to talk about. They’re just so fun and very bubbly,” she shared.
After taping abroad, Kira said being part of the show changed her life. "It was my crazy. My followers online doubled and people started recognizing me in the mall. So that felt really good to be recognized for the first time as Caitlyn and Kira,” she said. Unlike her TV role, Kira said she is not like that. "People knew naman that I wasn’t like that and of course it’s a day job. At the same you have to show them yourself that you’re not like that. Kira’s a quiet girl. She likes to read, she likes to sings. Whereas Caitlyn likes to dance. So in a way we’re kind of similar because we both like the arts kind of thing,” she explained.
With The Story of Us now on its final week, Kira hopes to get the chance to do another project again soon. "Kahit anong acting project po. I’m very versatile. I would also like to try out a love team,” she added.
Just like any teenager, Kira admitted she does have some crushes in showbiz. "Baka magalit si Liza Soberano pero si Enrique Gil (laughs). I’m in love with his acting. Just seeing him onscreen ever since. I also admired Xian Lim. When I first got here to the Philippines I was like, ‘Oh this guy ang galing niya um-acting!’ And now I actually got to work with him,” she said.
