Ayen Laurel says she’s a ‘kontrabida with a heart’ in “Born For You”

<div><img src='' alt='061316-AyenLaurel_PUSH.jpg' width='400' height='290' align='left' border='0'>Set to be the newest primetime bida antagonist, actress Ayen Laurel is making a showbiz comeback and will play the mother of Elmo Magalona’s character in the upcoming ABS-CBN teleserye, <i><a href='http://bornforyou.abs-cbn.com'>Born For You.</a></i></div><div><br/></div><div>During the show’s Red String Premiere at the Trinoma Cinema 7 last Saturday, June 11, the first few episodes revealed that Ayen’s character Marge will commit a crime that will prompt change in the course of the main characters’ lives. </div><div><br/></div><div>Given the antagonistic nature of her character, is Ayen ready for the possible negative comments of viewers? </div><div><br/></div><div>According to her, her role is not the typical stereotyped <i>kontrabida</i>, “With a heart <i>‘yung pagiging kontrabida ko</i> and the more they watch it, the more they understand why I’m doing or why I did what I did.”</div><div><br/></div><div>During the premiere night, which fans also attended, Ayen admitted cheering alongside the crowd when kilig scenes were shown. </div><div><br/></div><div>When asked what she is excited to show people in the teleserye, Ayen answered, “Of course I’m excited for them to see Japan.<i> Konti pa lang ‘yung nakita nila, marami pa silang makikita.” </i></div><div><br/></div><div>She also revealed that the scenes shown during the premiere night were shortened, hence, viewers should not miss the full version when the show officially airs on Monday, June 20. </div><div><br/></div><div>She also praised their director Onat Diaz for helping them play their roles well</div><div><br/></div><div> “The way he wants us to do it is really something special. I love Onat Diaz because he respects the actors,” she said. </div><div><br/></div><div>What makes<a href='http://bornforyou.abs-cbn.com'><i> Born For You</i></a> standout? </div><div><br/></div><div>“I think… Of course, it’s a light drama and the story is quite unique. It’s about the (entertainment) industry and it’s not just a teleserye <i>na gusto lang umiyak</i>, <i>gusto lang mag-away,</i> you know. </div><div><br/></div><div><i>“Lahat ng artista dito, pinag-aralan ‘yung ginagawa nila. Hindi lang ‘to ‘yung tipong </i>action and then <i>iyak ka na </i>out of nowhere so I think <i>isa sa mga </i>asset or one of the focus of this teleserye is not just the loveteam but I think the ensemble,<i> kaming lahat.</i> We all work hard<i>. Magaan katrabaho lahat. </i>We have a very good director,” she shared. </div>
