Fans who miss global singing sensation Charice’s music need not wait any longer as he is set to release his fifth studio album titled Catharsis.
According to Charice, the album has different inspirations.
“The album itself, hindi lang siya about sa akin. Like everywhere I go, when I look at a certain person, fini-figure out ko kung ano ang emotion niya, ang feeling niya," he said in an interview during his Mega Man cover launch.
"So ang para sa akin, gusto ko sumulat ng kanta na makaka-relate sila at maiisip nila na 'yun ang anthem ng buhay nila. So, definitely different emotions—may happy, of course may sad, may martir, may manhid, lahat na andoon," he further explained.
Charice said the album is going to have mostly originally composed songs. However there is also one cover and a Filipino song, which he wrote himself for Filipino fans.
The first single, which will be released at the upcoming Pinoy Pride Ball, is titled “Epitome of Beauty.” Charice alluded that this refers to his partner Alyssa Quijano.
The “Pyramid” singer also shared that he became “hands-on” with the technical side of the album.
Finally fulfilling his plan to tap into the rock scene, Charice said that the album would have various types of rock genres such as pop rock, acoustic rock and alternative rock.
But why did he decide to call the album Catharsis?
"When they hear it, it's like a release. When you hear my song—either happy or sad’it's like a release of your emotions. The song has a ‘cathartic’ feeling to it," he explained.
