After signing a new two-year contract with ABS-CBN, Sharon Cuneta said she looks forward to meeting and coaching the young talents who will join The Voice Kids this season. "Siyempre I’m very happy. You know I love kids ever since naman kahit hindi ko anak na-so-spoil ko. So yun ang magiging mahirap na naman dito sa The Voice Kids kasi alam ko lahat ng pumapasok dito talented eh. I’ll have to be really fair and let the best singer win. Ganun naman. It doesn’t mean hindi magaling yung iba. Meron lang nakaaangat ng konti,” she shared during her contract signing held last May 5 inside the ABS-CBN compound.
With her eldest daughter KC Concepcion having turned 31 last month, Sharon admitted she already wants KC to give her grandkids already. "I want her to (get married). Pero siyempre it doesn’t depend on me. Actually I want grandchildren eh. Kasi I will steal them. I’ll kidnap them. Lahat ng anak ko mula kay KC hanggang kay Frankie at Miel, pag nagkaanak sila pagdating ng araw hindi na nila makikita yung mga anak nila kasi nasa akin na lahat. Bibili ako ng castle na kailangan nila hanapin (laughs),” she joked.
With KC recently admitting she is currently dating former Azkals team captain Aly Borromeo, the 50-year-old mother of four admitted that she approves of him already after getting to know him more. “Oo naman matagal na (pinakilala). You know, he’s a really good guy. Parang you better ask KC na lang. Ito namang si Kristina, lahat naman anak ng dinate mo binoboto ko tapos wala namang nangyari. At least ito namang si Aly, let’s put it this way, if this was 20 years ago then a man like Aly came into my life and took care of me, yun ang sasagutin ko siguro. Maiba naman di ba? (laughs),” she shared.
With KC previously being linked to Kapamilya stars like Paulo Avelino and Piolo Pascual, Sharon clarified that her statements about Aly should not be taken as being connected to or as a comparison to her daughter’s previous relationships. "I don’t mean to put down anybody. I’m just saying napakabait na bata. At saka very respectful towards us and I see how he treats KC. They’re getting to know each other. I’m very happy,” she said.
As for Zsa Zsa padilla’s recent breakup with fiance Conrad Onglao, Sharon said she does not want to interfere with what happened. "Kahapon ko lang nalaman. It was also what Karylle said, yun lang alam ko. I didn’t want to text either of them.
“I have not spoken to her and I think when a person is going through something like that, I think you must give her time. Ang dami yung tinatawag nilang epal, yung mapapel. I’m not like that eh. Kasi I’m a good friend of her and she knows I’m here for her so I know that at the right time she’s going to probably reach out to me or I will reach out to her when I feel it’s the right time. But I’m not the type to get into anyone’s business lalo relationship, it’s not my place,” she explained.
Even though she was the one who introduced the couple to each other, Sharon said there are no regrets on her part even after what happened. “At least I think they had good times together,” she added.
