Leni’s youngest daughter Jillian thanked those who supported their mom. Leni’s win coincidentally falls on her late husband Jessie Robredo’s birthday.
“The best woman won. Maraming salamat sa 14, 418, 847 bumoto at nagtiwala kay Mama. Napakagandang regalo para sa birthday ni Papa. #VPLeni,” Jillian posted on her Twitter account.
Her second daughter Tricia posted, “Happy birthday, Papa #VPLeni.”
The newly vice president elect’s eldest daughter Aika simply tweeted, “#VPLeni ”
Leni won with 14,418,817 votes in the final tally while Bongbong Marcos finished with 14,155,344. Robredo beat Marcos by 263,473 votes.
On vice president-elect Leni’s official Facebook account, her team extended its gratitude to those who gave their support. “Kasabay ng pagdiriwang ng ?#?KaarawanNiJesse? ang matamis na?#?TagumpayNiLeni?! Panalo na tayo ng 14,418,817 boto. Maraming salamat sa lahat ng kababayan nating nagtiwala!”
Meanwhile, Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte won in the presidential race with 16,601,997 votes.
Both Duterte and Robredo will be officially proclaimed on Monday, May 30, as stated by Senate canvassing chairman Aquilino Pimentel III.
