Director Gino Santos says ‘Love Me Tomorrow’ deals with a taboo subject
051716-gino.jpgUnang pelikula ni Direk Gino Santos sa Star Cinema ang Ex With Benefits na pinagbibidahan nina Coleen Garcia at Derek Ramsay. Kumita ang pelikula at naging critically-acclaimed ito.

Now he has given another project with no less than Dawn Zulueta, Piolo Pasual, and Coleen Garcia ang mga bida. The title of the film is Love Me Tomorrow at palabas na ito sa May 25.

Aminado si Direk Gino na isang “taboo” film ang Love Me Tomorrow dahil sa tema nito na medyo hindi pa katanggap-tanggap sa Philippine culture.

We’ve never seen it in Philippine setting before. It’s very new. Dito sa Philippine culture, parang taboo siya and when it was pitched to me, nakita ko na it’s an interesting story because you see personalities also na ganu’n yung relationship and the age difference no one seems to care.

“And I thought na it’s very timely nga lalo na ngayon na anything is possible. I just wanted to explore that type of love story—someone older, someone younger —sino ang pipiliin mo? Are you going to go with someone more mature or someone younger? I thought that would be a great conflict and ano ba yung pipilian ng puso mo, age ba o totoong pagmamahal,” paliwanag ng director tungkol sa premis ng pelikula.

Sa palagay niya, paano tatanggapin ng tao ang movie?

“Sa totoo lang, may mga Titas kaming alam, Titas like this or Titos like that na...  so, I don’t think it’s a super taboo, but it is taboo, I mean you haven’t seen it before in Filipino cinema but people are open about it now.

And I think this film will open new love stories not just in cinemas but also in TV or different scripts, so yon yung bago and we hope people will appreciate it when they watch the film,” katwiran pa niya.

Ano ba ang kaibahan nito sa ibang May-December love affair movie?

“In the film ang daming senaryo... because it is a coming of age film especially for Dawn, mae-experience niya yung whole millennial world through the eyes of Piolo and Coleen that she never experienced before at mai-inlove siya sa world na yon,” sagot niya.

Eh, kumusta namang katrabaho sina Piolo at Dawn?

At first I was so nervous. Kabadong-kabado ako!” pag-amin pa niya.

Siyempre, sanay po ako mag-work with the teenagers. I do coming of age films, mga teeny bopper films. Si Derek (Ramsay) na yung pinakamatanda kong nakatrabaho (Ex With Benefits).

“Tapos biglang they give me Dawn and Piolo and siyempre Dawn at Piolo ‘to. And how is it like working with them? It’s so much fun kasi sobrang light lang ng set namin,” kuwento pa niya.
