Newly-elected Makati councilor Jhong Hilario said that he is not yet returning to the noontime show, It’s Showtime where he was a regular host before he ran for public office this year.
In a phone interview on fellow It’s Showtime host Amy Perez’ radio show Sakto in DZMM, the dancer turned actor talked about his plans now that he won as the city’s first district councilor, “Tiyang (Amy), siguro pahinga lang ng konti dahil sa sobrang pagod sa pangangampanya.”
Nonetheless, he said that he misses his ‘Showtime’ family and would like to go back, “Actually, gusto ko na talagang rin bumalik kasi sobrang namiss ko na talaga kayo. Namiss ko madlang pipol.”
Moreover, he said, “Siguro ano, kasi kinausap ko rin si Direk Chito (Rono), ‘yung manager ko, hindi ko rin alam kung kailan nga ako (babalik) sa trabaho ulit so nasa pag-uusap na lang siguro nila ng management.”
When asked about his plans for Makati’s first district, Jhong, who thanked the people of Makati for making him number 1 in the election results, answered, “Gaya ng mga sinasabi ko sa stage, ito ‘yung kapakanan ng mga kabataan. Meron kasing dalawang programa na gusto kong ituloy, ‘yung SPES and GIP, ito ‘yung nagbibigay ng trabaho sa mga kapos-palad natin pero deserving na mga estudyante. And tumutulong din tayo para at least matuto sila maging isang public servant. At least bata pa lang sila, marunong na silang tumulong sa kapos-palad nating mga mamamayan.
It was March of this year when Jhong took a break from It’s Showtime to focus on his political career.
