After successfully concluding their first soap a few months back, emerging love team Jessy Mendiola and JC de Vera have a follow-up project through Wansapanataym Presents: Just Got Laki.
Turns out the episode was their first ever “light” project as a love team and even individually.
“Siyempre different ‘yung pagiging light, siyempre may romantic side siya. Siyempre may ligawan and mga things na very different from You’re My Home kasi nga ‘yun heavy drama ito very light lang. May konting kilig and light romance,” explained JC in an exclusive interview with Push.
Jessy admitted that the fact that she has no experience in doing light projects is making her anxious.
“I actually don’t have expectations, more of I’m hopeful na sana magustuhan ng mga bata kasi hindi naman kami sanay na mga bata ang market namin or sana magustuhan ng kahit sino na manonood na ‘Ah pwede rin pala sila sa pa-cute at light,’” she said.
Neverthless, Jessy stressed that they are taking their new project as a welcome challenge since “Kasi parang kami masyado na kaming nama-maturan sa mga sarili namin eh para maging pa-cute.”
JC, for his part, is happy that they are doing a new genre because they are able to showcase their flexibility as actors.
“Siyempre hindi lang sa isang angle na heavy drama and comedy lika sa Banana Sundae. Ito talagang there’s pressure for us and at the same time siyempre makikita nila na how light lang ang story and paano namin siya gagawin na masarap panoorin,” he explained.
After getting into a different genre, will they be open to do away with heavy drama?
“We’re hoping na maganda ang maging outcome nito,” JC said.
“Habang ginagawa namin ito parang sinasabi namin ‘Sana ‘yung next natin light lang, light lang,’” Jessy added.
