Music icon Prince has passed away yesterday, April 21. He was 57. The singer was found unresponsive in an elevator at his Paisley Park home and studio in Minneapolis around 9:43am.
A press release sent from the Carver County Sheriff's Department also confirmed that he was pronounced dead at 10:07am after unsuccessful CPR attempts. The reason for his death has not yet been identified but authorities are currently investigating it.
"It is with profound sadness that I am confirming that the legendary, iconic performer, Prince Rogers Nelson, has died at his Paisley Park residence this morning," publicist Yvette Noel-Schure said.
Prince was famous for defining the sound of the 80s with his hit songs such as "Kiss" and "Purple Rain". Prince received a total of seven Grammy Awards from 32 nominations between 1984 and 2010.
