Elmo Magalona on living alone: ‘It’s hard siyempre’
042116-ElmoMagalona_PUSH.jpgWith his hands full taping his first ever Kapamilya soap Born For You which will be shown this year, Elmo Magalona said he could not think of working with any other leading lady aside from his co-star Janella Salvador. "Sa ngayon hindi ko pa masyadong iniisip kasi binigyan ako ng project and gusto ko talaga pagbutihin ang Born For You. If ever na magkaroon ng ganun siyempre. magandang isipin pero concentrated ako sa Born For You,” he shared during the Jollibee “Isang Number Para sa Pinas” mall show held last April 19 at the SM Mall of Asia.

The 21-year-old new Jollibee endorser also admitted that he has been living independently in a condo ever since transferring to ABS-CBN. "Kasi meron akong place. To be honest hindi siya sa akin lang so sa mom ko pa rin siya pero hindi na nag-se-stay dun so ako na yung tumitira dun. Pero pag hindi na kaya ng schedule umuuwi din ako sa bahay kasi na-mi-miss ko yung mga mas bata kong kapatid plus my mom. Pero so far I like it. It’s hard siyempre when you have to parang think of all these things but in the end benefit rin yun para sa akin kasi it’s going to make me improve as a person,” he admitted.

Growing up with seven other siblings in the Magalona household was quite a transition to living solo according to Elmo. "Masaya. Masaya na magulo sa house. Na-mi-miss ko nga yung magkakasama kami sa house. Kung puwede lang we only stay in one house ulit para makulit, ganun. Meron akong ate or kuya na mag-aalaga sa akin sa house,” he said.

Among all the household chores he has to do by himself, Elmo admitted he hates washing clothes the most. "Yung pinaka-ayaw ko (na chore) yung damit, yung maglaba. Yun yung pinaka-nakaka-stress para sa akin. Kaya nahihirapan ako kaya ang ginagawa ko na lang pinapadala ko na lang sa house, pinapa-wash ko na lang dun tapos after nun babalik na lang siya sa akin,” he shared.

Elmo also said his mom Pia will continue to be his manager. "I think that’s a big factor din this year. Since I’m turning 22 parang she still manages me pero she’s giving me more control so kunyari if I have my own opinions, if I have my own ideas I can approach her na lang and actually she’s giving me more responsibility na. Of course it was a mutual thing naman. It wasn’t like a forced thing. She believes that it will help me also. Kumbaga she taught me naman everything that she can eh. It’s best lang for me to try inputting some of my own ideas na rin,” he said.

Now that he is a Kapamilya, Elmo said he is not pressured to compete with the other Star Magic talents who have been in the network longer than him. "Me kasi I like challenges. I’m like very competitive as a person especially when someone tells me na, ‘You can’t do this.’ Mas na-e-enganyo ako dun. So I think it’s a very spot that I have and I want to keep it. Of course meron din yun (pressure) pero hindi ko na lang inaano (iniisip) yung mga bad,” he explained.

So far Elmo said his working relationship with Janella has only gotten better the longer they work together. "Masaya. Okay naman. I find her to be like energetic, funny, and she’s crazy to work with especially pag meron kaming scene together. Kilala na niya yung character niya talaga eh,” he said.
