Despite the success of his big screen partnership with Arci Muñoz in their film Always Be My Maybe, Gerald Anderson maintained that he wants to fly solo.
Gerald, who was formerly in a love team with Kim Chiu, claimed that he is already way past the love team stage in his career.
The question stemmed from the hunky actor’s notable onscreen chemistry with his newest leading lady.
"Para sa akin, matanda na rin ako, [I'm] 26, [turning] 27. Parang ang weird kung may love team pa rin ako,” he started.
“Kami ni Kim, love team kami [when] I was 17, 18, 19, 20 years old, kung paano sina Daniel [Padilla] and Enrique [Gil] ngayon. Ang weird kung may love team ako, but as an actor gusto ko na iba-ibang leading ladies ang makakasama mo, kasi ibang-iba ang maibibigay mo," he explained.
But Gerald did not deny the existence of a certain “spark” between him and Arci.
"Of course may spark, hindi ako magsisinungaling... Mami-miss ko siya, mami-miss ko siyang makasama talaga. But like I said, isa sa natutunan ko at matututunan ng mga tao sa film is you have to be ready to get into a relationship. 'Yung friendship namin ni Arci ay okay na okay kami doon. And as a friend, I am always here," he said.
The Pasion de Amor actress has been known for being in a long-term relationship with the vocalist of the band Mr. Bones and the Boneyard Circus.
Meanwhile, Gerald, who recently admitted that he is taking some time in moving on from his ex-girlfriend Maja Salvador, wants to enjoy being single for the time being.
"I'm happy being single kasi nga, 'yun, ang dami kong realization about myself, about my personality, about being with my family and things I want to pursue. Also 'yung craft ko pagdating sa acting, 'yung foundation ko," he said.
But if in case he would change his mind, Gerald presupposes, "Sabi ko nga, baka kailangan ko ring gawin 'yung dating game, 'yung magdi-date muna ako para mas makilala before I jump into a relationship.”
