Marlo Mortel is one of the interpreters for this year’s Himig Handog P-Pop Love Songs competition. The Kapamilya star remarked that he feels privileged and ecstatic to be part of the competition.
“Well I’m very honored and very excited. I’m a fan actually simula nong first Himig Handog at para mahanay ka sa ganito kalalaking mga singers parang feeling ko wow very magaling na magaling na singer na rin ako feeling ko, so I’m very honored,” he said in an interview with Push.com.ph.
For this year, Marlo is collaborating with Janella Salvador for the song “Mananatili.” “Well actually maraming nagugulat kasi ‘yung song namin is very matured na ang atake and kumbaga nag-blend ng maigi ang boses namin so it’s a fun experience.”
Now that Janella is busy with her new soap with Elmo Magalona, how do they find time to practice for the finals night? “Well ‘pag may free time tsaka nagkikita pero usually kasi we have our own things, our own stuff so pagka-nagkatugma ang sched namin,” Marlo explained.
When asked how do they maintain their friendship despite having to work separately this time, he replied, “Well bilang lumalaki na ang pinagsamahan namin from Be Careful (With My Heart) to Oh My G hindi man kami nagkakausap ng ganon kadalas, pag nagkikita kami sobrang bonding to the max .” Does he miss her? “Oo naman halos araw-araw sa taping before, ngayon bhira na lang, although minsan nagkaka-meet naman minsan kaming dalawa.”
Now that Janella has a new love team, Marlo was asked if he is open as well to having a different partner this time? “Siyempre naman. Actually bilang isang artista naman dapat versatile ka. Hindi naman dapat naka-stick ka sa isa pero although siyempre iba ‘yung impact namin ni Janella pero dapat open din kami na magkaroon ng ibang kapareha tulad niyan meron siyang Elmo ngayon so nagi-experiment talaga siya as an actress,” he commented.
What’s next for him after Oh My G? “Hindi ko po alam actually. I have no idea, ito pa lang and more on hosting talaga ako ngayon pero excited ako dahil first love ko ang singing at magagawa ko dito,” Marlo admitted.
He also hopes that he will be given the opportunity to have his own album. “Sana pero wala pang magpro-produce for now so I hope na makita nila na may talent din ako at may maganda akong mao-offer sa OPM.”
