EXCLUSIVE: Carl Guevarra wants to experiment with new roles
032116-carl_main.jpgAs a gay guy who wakes up from a coma as a straight guy, Carl Guevara says his role as Eric in the CineFilpino filmfest comedy entry Straight to the Heart was a good acting challenge for him.

"Actually nag-audition ako dito and ang daming nag-audition and ako yung napili ni direk Dave Fabros. So may kanya kanya kaming personality. Yung isa gay na maingay, yung isa gay na tahimik tapos yung natapat sa akin gay na sakto, yung tama lang so maganda,” he shared.

The movie which also stars Gwen Zamora, Nico Antonio, Kiko Matos, Vince de Jesus and Ricci Chan is directed by first time director David Fabros, who Carlo says is also a good friend in the industry.

"First time ko siya nakatrabaho. I guess masaya ako kasi ito after six years nagkita kami tapos nag-audition ako.

Even though they come from the same television network, Carl said this was his first real project with Gwen Zamora.

The actor also says that he is now ready to take on more complicated roles regardless if they are straight or gay characters. "After this depende kung anong mabigay sa akin na roles. Gusto ko kasi iba-iba eh. Gusto kong mag-experiment. Before kasi parang puro pa-pogi lang, ganyan,” he added.

The 2016 CineFilpino Film Festival runs until March 22 in select Metro Manila cinemas.
