Sam Concepcion admits a breakup inspired his newest album ‘Bago’
031216-samconcepcion_main.jpgWith the launch of his fourth album Bago under Universal Records, Sam Concepcion admitted his latest eight track all original OPM album is part of his reinvention. "I’m very glad to have done this album. I collaborated with a lot of great artists. I’m glad I got to work with some songwriters that helped me create this album. I really feel like it’s something fresh and new for me. The last album was very well put together but itong album na ito I was the most hands-on than any of the other albums I did in the past. So it’s more real to me, mas buhay sa akin. It’s more organic. It’s more truthful to what I want to make and where I want to take my music. This is quite a bit of a risk but it’s a step towards the right direction,” he shared during the Bago album launch held last March 8 at Luxent hotel in Quezon city.

Apart from changes in his music, Sam said he also has a different outlook in life now. "I want to be able to travel more. Yun yung gagawin kong bago this year. That’s actually my New Year’s resolution. I’ve been trying to sneak it in kasi katatapos pa lang namin ng You’re My Home na taping so I’m more flexible with the time now. I was just in Zambales with some friends and then we went to La Union. So far this year that’s already two beach trips in a span of two months so yay!” he admitted,

It’s been almost a year since his breakup with Jasmine Curtis but the Bago album singer says he has not been dating anybody new. "No. I’m really not. I don’t know. It’s not in the plan right now. Things like that you can’t plan it. When it happens, it happens.  But at the moment I’m really enjoying this time of this creative process, this process of growing as a person, as an individual and as an artist.  And I wouldn’t really rush anything. I wouldn’t rush into things,” he explained.

The 23-year-old Kapamilya actor talked about the positive side of being single while working on his album. "After breakups, it’s either you go up or you kind of stay where you are but always, you kind of find yourself in a better place. You kind of find yourself in such a creative space for me. Parang for me, suddenly everything becomes possible. It just flows. It’s very much inspired by that,” he added.

When asked to react how he felt about Jasmine’s admission that she has a new suitor, Sam said he is happy for his ex. "I’m glad that everything worked out the way it did. We’re both in very good places right now and we wouldn’t really want to do anything or create anything that would ruin anyone’s happiness at the moment. So wherever we’re at right now, I’m 23 and she’s 21. You know there’s a lot of growing up that we still have to do and a lot of learning so we’re just going to leave it at that. Totoo naman yun,” he said.
