Aiko Melendez describes Cristine Reyes as ‘transparent’
031016-AikoMelendez_PUSH.jpgAmid the current controversy involving Cristine Reyes and veteran star Vivian Velez, Aiko Melendez vouched for Cristine’s character.

The two worked together on the Kapamilya afternoon series Reputasyon in 2011, a project, which came right on the heels of Aiko’s breakup with Bulacan Mayor Patrick Meneses. At that time, Cristine’s older sister Ara was being linked to Patrick.

“No, I didn’t have any bad experience with her,” said Aiko during an interview at the second grand press conference of the soap The Story of Us starring Kim Chiu and Xian Lim.

Cristine was put on the spot after Vivian, her Tubig at Langis co-star complained that she was humiliated by the former while on the set. This incident led to Vivian’s “irrevocable resignation” from the soap.

Aiko, who described Cristine as “transparent,” believed that it worked for them before that they had a “talk” even prior to starting the soap.

“To begin with, bago kami sinalang I had to sit down with her and talk to her na, ‘ihiwalay natin ang trabaho sa kung anuman ang mayro’n kami ng sister mo.’ So maybe that’s one thing she appreciated with me because I’ve been very honest, I’ve laid my cards,” she said.

She added, “If she doesn’t like you, she’ll make you feel she doesn’t like you. But if she likes you, she’ll make a way na talagang make you feel that she likes you.”

Meanwhile, Aiko was quizzed if she’s willing to work with Ara, who not only became Patrick’s ex-girlfriend, but Jomari Yllana’s former flame as well. Jomari and Aiko were once married and it was the latter that filed for their marriage’s annulment, which got granted in 2010.

“If there’s a project na maganda ang role, puwede,” she initially said.

However, Aiko expressed apprehensions over giving it a go.

“Kaya lang, ayoko naman na pagtawanan kami ng tao to the expense... I mean maraming pinagdadaanan si Ara ngayon sa buhay niya, and I don’t think ‘yong pagpiyestahan pa ‘yong buhay namin pareho ngayon would be worth it,” she said.

“So I think the best way is, you know, okay kami hindi man kami magkatrabaho. At least hindi kami magkaaway,” she added.
