EXCLUSIVE: Cherry Pie Picache on Jadine as a couple: ‘Hindi na nila tinatago’
030116-cherry_main.jpgApart from being one of the country’s best actresses, Cherry Pie Picache admitted she has another passion: food. She had the formal launch of her Alab restaurant last February 27 at the UP Town Center. “This is my other passion. Aside from my craft, I love to cook that’s why I decided to go into the restaurant business. Alab means Passion or fire. My favorite dish is the pianggang which is a Tausug dish from Mindanao and it can only be found in our restaurant. A lot of people come for our pianggang. We also have a very good array of desserts like New York Cubao cheesecake and a different line of ice cream like laing ice cream and this summer we have the pakwan flavor. We want the restaurant to be a melting pot where people can taste different dishes across the region na they don’t have to go to those places anymore,” she told Push.com.ph.

With On the Wings of Love airing its final episode last February 26, Cherry Pie said she can now have more time to focus on her business. "Ay ang hirap mag-balance kaya nga wala na akong boses eh (laughs). We were taping every day for On the Wings of Love sa finale week and then kasunod nga itong media launch kasi we wanted to catch the leap year so Alab restaurant is growing leaps and bounds. So we wanted to launch it and offer new dishes to our patrons,” she explained.

With all her blessings, Cherry Pie said she believes her mom is still watching over her. "I think my mother is behind all of this. I’m very blessed and grateful and I have very good partners with our business. I think she’s been guiding me all the way. With the success of OTWOL I’ve been very honored and grateful that I was included in the cast,” she said.

030116-cherry_main.jpgThe 45-year-old actress also said that she was happy when James Reid admitted that he and Nadine Lustre were a couple already before the show ended. "We’re very happy for them and we wish them all the best. Nagkatotoo from reel to real yung ganun. Imposible na hindi rin (sila) di ba? Kasi they’re working together everyday, magkasama sila araw-araw and I think they share the same passion, they care for each other so it’s just fitting that they end up together. Team real,” she shared.

Even after the Jadine In Love concert, Cherry Pie said she noticed how things became different on the set after the proclamation of love. "Oo iba na. Siyempre hindi na nila tinatago. So pag dumadating ka (sa set) magkasama na sila, magkatabi na, yung ganun. Iba na. I think now they’re more comfortable with each other,” she said.

Cherry Pie also dispelled any doubts on how genuine Jadine’s relationship really is. "No, I don’t think so. To begin with, James Reid is not known to be like that. Ano sila, totoo talaga,” she added.

After OTWOL, Cherry Pie said she is already working on her upcoming movie Whistleblower with Nora Aunor and Angelica Panganiban and directed by Adolf Alix Jr. She is also set to work on another ABS-CBN project later this year. And for those who will miss her character Tita Jack on On the Wings of Love, Cherry Pie had this to say, "I think there’s separation anxiety for everybody but it’s time to move on. There are new projects to come and my restaurant is one of them (laughs)."
