5 Things You Should Know about Jayda Avanzado

Aside from a promising singing career, there’s a lot more to Jayda Avanzado, the only child of Jessa Zaragoza and Dingdong Avanzado, that people might not know about. The full-time student just had a successful stint as one of the opening acts for The Vamps concert in Manila last January 30.

1. Jayda is a certified mommy’s girl
“I like it when I’m with both of my parents on a lazy day. As funny as it sounds, eating is definitely something we bond over and mainly just lying in bed and doing nothing sounds good to us. We bond over some TV series too. Secondly, I am pretty close to both of my parents, but since I am a girl myself, I'll have to go with my mom (Sorry Dad, love you).”

2. She is a Star Wars fan
"I love to write and read. And when I say write, I mean writing in general, I like to try my hand at writing music, stories, etc. I also like to tinker around with GarageBand and edit with iMovie. Another two of interests of mine are bands and Star Wars. I've got a long list of bands that I do admire (a list too long to be mentioned in this interview) and just Star Wars in general makes me happy."

3.She is a model student
"First and foremost, I do go to regular school. I'm currently in 8th grade at the moment and honestly it’s quite difficult juggling these two things together because both require your utmost dedication for you to succeed in both areas. I think though that good time management helps me balance both things."

4. She’s always dreamed of being a singer
"As weird as it sounds, I think my most unforgettable performance yet was my 9th birthday concert, despite not doing so good in the vocal department (very cringe worthy I must say), Looking back, that's when I realized how much I want this so bad. I remember thinking, this is what I want to do for the rest of my life."

5. She has other idols aside from Ariana Grande
Aside from Ariana, Jayda says she is also influenced by other foreign artists. “In the international scene, I'd like to say that my biggest influences are Ariana Grande, Christina Aguilera, Tori Kelly, and Beyonce simply because they are hands down, amazing at what they do, I'd think that every one of them, some how embody what it is to be an artist and that's something I'd want to do in the near by future.”
