Martin Nievera reveals his biggest relationship regret
020316-martine_main.jpgIf he could give rumored couple King and Queen of Teleserye Theme Songs Erik Santos and Angeline Quinto one crucial advice about their personal lives, it would have be to keep certain private things private.

The Concert King told this to the two young singers who were being relentlessly grilled by the press over the “true status” of their relationship during their recently concluded Royals concert press conference held at The Luxent Hotel.

“They’re still young, they’re both single. They should be thinking more about their careers first,” he started.

If it were up to him, Martin admitted he would have probably changed some things in his past.

“If I could have done it all over again, sa dami ko ng admissions to the press na ‘I’ll never leave you. I love you forever.’ Ang dami things that I’ve said that made me look like a liar today,” Martin said.

Martin was formerly married to Concert Queen Pops Fernandez with whom he has two children, Robin and Ram. The formal decision for their marriage’s annulment came in 2000, some four years after confirming that they had parted ways.

“I mean if I have been a little bit careful... it’s a good thing we started as very good friends. We’re really candidates for being number one enemies at the way the press—no fault to you—on the way we presented our relationship to the press and to the world, you’d think we couldn’t be friends today,” he said. “But because our foundation is true friendship, we can remain friends today.”

“So I tell the young kids, even those getting married, especially that highly-profiled showbiz [couple], na ‘I-can’t-believe-they’re-together-couples’ to really try and keep it to themselves because at the end of the day, our relationships whether true or not belong to you,” he said.

He ended, “The fans, the detractors, believe it or not, it doesn’t affect the relationship.”

Catch Martin, Angeline, Erik, and Regine Velasquez in their Valentine’s Day concert titled The Royals at the SM Mall of Asia Arena on February 13 and at the Waterfront Hotel and Casino on February 14.
