For his role as Fil-Italian heir Giancarlo de Luca in the new Primetime Bida series, Matteo had to speak in mostly Italian dialogue. He credited his co-actor Ruben Maria Soriquez (who plays Liza’s adoptive father Roberto Marchesa) for helping him look like an authentic Italian speaker. "Actually si Ruben yung brains of the language here. He’s the one correcting all of our grammar. He’s there for us talaga. He’s a big help on the set and sobrang galing ni Ruben,” he shared.
Matteo also admitted that he did some preparation for his role as the third party to one of the country’s hottest love team Lizquen. "Nagpagupit ako tapos tinanggal ko talaga yung facial hair ko, lahat. 17 ulit (laughs). Short hair din so parang totoy,” he added.
Playing the suitor of Liza Soberano was not a difficult task for Matteo who admits he found the 18-year-old actress very attractive. "Sobra di ba? Baka magkaaway kami ni Enrique (laughs). Liza is beautiful. Nung nagtrabaho kami sa Italy, sa umpisa akala ko sobrang bata ni Liza dahil she was 17 pa lang pero ngayon 18 pero but she’s very mature for her age. She makes decisions on her own. It’s very nice to see someone like that and she’s a very down-to-earth person,” he admitted.
It was during their shoot abroad that Matteo discovered that his new leading lady had a hidden talent most people probably were not yet aware of here in the Philippines. “Ang galing ni Liza, nakakatuwa. Yung mga hidden talents niya na hindi niyo alam. She likes to rap. We had a lot of bonding moments. Kaso palaging nasa Facetime si Liza. Masaya yun set namin,” he shared.
