Nike drops Manny Pacquiao as endorser after his same-sex marriage comment

<div><img src='' alt='021816-manny_main.jpg' width='400' height='290' align='left' border='0'>World Boxing Champ Manny Pacquiao’s statement regarding his views on same-sex marriage backfired. Nike has announced  they are dropping him as their endorser.</div><div><br/></div><div>“We find Manny Pacquiao’s comments abhorrent,” Nike said in a statement last February 17.</div><div><br/></div><div>“Nike strongly opposes discrimination of any kind and has a long history of supporting and standing up for the rights of the LGBT community. We no longer have a relationship with Manny Pacquiao,” Nike added.</div><div><br/></div><div>Manny’s 30-second interview for Bilang Pilipino about the gay community was uploaded on Facebook and went viral immediately. It also angered local and international celebrities who have been supportive of the LGBT community.</div><div><br/></div><div>Manny has also issued a public apology through his Instagram account. <a href='https://push-data.abs-cbn.com/push/archive/features/58151/manny-pacquiao-apologizes-for-comparing-homosexuals-to-animals/'>However the senatorial aspirant said he still stands firm with his previous statement that he’s against same-sex marriage.</a></div><div><br/></div><div><i>Mainphoto courtesy of sports.abs-cbn.com</i></div>

Nike says Manny’s comment is abhorrent.
