In an exclusive interview, actor and fashion blogger AJ Dee talked about what happened to his application to move permanently to Europe. The 33-year-old actor said he had decided to give up showbiz so he can help raise his family in Norway where his wife and two sons are based. “Well two years ago we decided na ako ang lilipat dun sa Norway. Rinequest ko lang from her to give me extra time to continue showbiz, to go back to ABS-CBN and to work with my brother and to do an indie film. So lahat yun nagawa ko na. So sabi ko time na to finally okay na ako, ready na ako lumipat sa Norway and then this thing happened na parang nagkaka-problem ako sa visa ko sa application,” he shared during the Nivea Sun Summer Kick-off event held in Bohol which showcased the sun protection product line.
As the face behind his fashion blog The Filo Dapper, AJ said blogging keeps his mind away from being lonely. “At least may blog akong ginagawa so at least kahit papano nagiging busy pero hopefully lumabas na rin yung visa para makapunta na ako kasi it’s been very hard for my wife dahil dalawa yung anak namin. Siya lahat nag-aasikaso so sabi ko, ‘Be extra patient kasi you are being the father and the mother of the kids.’ It’s hard kasi she has work and then pag-uwi yung kids pa,” he shared.
AJ said he hopes to be able to continue his blog (which is also part of the Kapamilya network’s Adobo channel on YouTube) when he goes abroad. "The reason why I started the blog was because I knew that I’d be moving to Norway. So I was trying to look for an outlet na connected pa rin siya sa arts like showbiz. Start ko muna siya dito para pagpunta ko dun may following na ako. But then again it’s a different game. Hindi ko alam kung mag-wo-work siya dun and all. But I still need to work on a day job and then kung ma-sustain ko yung blog eh di at least yung blog na lang yung gagawin ko. And then I can do other things rin dun. Ang plan ko kasi mag-fly in ng mga artists so parang to produce. Kinausap ko na sila Enchong (Dee) sila Vice (Ganda) and all. I have connections with different networks. I think it will be not naman easy but hindi ko pa naman alam lahat ng ins and outs ng producing pero at least may kilala na ako dito,” he explained.
As a dad to sons four-year-old Maximus James and two-year-old Alexander Jaden, AJ said he can’t wait to see them again especially since they don’t have a nanny in Europe. AJ said his wife inspires him with her energy for work and taking care of the household. “Wala ng yaya eh although andun naman siya sa mom niya. Pero siyempre pag-uwi niya she has to take care of the kids. Eh parang nag-se-share siya sa akin and all I can tell her is to be extra patient kasi nahihirapan na din siya eh, nag-snap na siya and all. Sabi ko sana makapunta na ako diyan para at least magkaroon ako ng time with the kids and to be able to help her raise the kids,” he admitted.
Even though he and his wife were apart for Valentine’s this year, AJ said he will always remember his wedding proposal as one of the most romantic things that has happened in his life. “Nung nag-propose ako to my wife kasi yung plano ko was to propose in a different country pero hindi nangyari and then inisip ko kahit dito na lang but then I have to do something different, something more special, not just to go somewhere else. So what I did was we stayed at a hotel and then while we were eating sabi ko alis lang ako kasama yung son ko. Tapos parang may dumating na nagsabi, ‘Open this gift’ which will lead her to another place. Ginawa ko siayng parang Amazing Race type. So nung nakuha niya yung gift she went to sa concierge tapos binigyan siya ng another message syaing, ‘Wear this earring tapos go to your room,’ tapos pagdating sa room nandun yung dress nakalatag with the background music. Kami naman nung son ko nagbibihis na rin kami tapos naghihintay kami dun sa beachfront with all my family habang may ginagawa pa siyang step na kailangan suotin niya yung shoes. Then nung dumating siya, yung son ko yung nagbigay nung ring sa kanya,” he recalled.
