Julia Barretto, Joshua Garcia react to predictions that their movie will be MMFF 2016’s top grosser

During the grand media conference for the movie on Tuesday, December 6, film director Theodore Boborol shared how different the movie is compared to the original story.“’Yung Vince and Kath, ‘nung binili siya ng Star Cinema, ang lawak kasi ng kwento niya, eh. Umabot na ng kasal, ganyan. So, we thought of, ano dito ‘yung pinakabest na kunin for the movie kasi we cannot cover the entire Vince and Kath textserye,” Direk Theodore said, adding that they studied the story and came up with the best parts. “T’saka kami bumuo ng kwento. Kumbaga, nagsimula kami sa… Nakilig na tayo sa palitan ng text nilang dalawa, ano pa kaya ‘pag binaba nila ang kanilang cellphone at nagkita-kita sila outside their cellphones. So, ito ‘yung kwento ng pelikula,” he added. When asked about the prediction that their movie will be MMFF 2016’s top grossing film, Direk Theodore said, “At first, we are flattered kasi ‘nun ginawa namin ‘yung pelikula, hindi namin ineexpect na una, makapasok sa MMFF. Pangalawa, ‘yung pinepredict nilang top-grosser kami kaya lang ayaw namin ilagay sa isip namin kasi ang yabang naman ‘nun. Mas gusto lang namin na maging masaya lang kami na natanggap kami sa MMFF at gusto namin ibahagi ‘yung kasiyahan na nararamdaman namin sa mga manunood.” For his part, Joshua Garcia said, “’Dun pa lang sa makapasok kami ng MMFF eh malaking bagay na po sa’min. Sobrang saya na namin. Kung maging top-grosser pa, mas masaya po. Kaya sana po suportahan natin.” Likewise, Julia said that she is also very happy that their movie got into the festival, calling it a dream come true. “Pero dahil ‘yun ‘yung iniisip nila, siyempre ieembrace na lang po namin. Nagpapasalamat kami pero syempre, ‘yun din ‘yung prayer namin pero syempre, susuportahan natin ang lahat ng films,” she said.
