Ogie Alcasid talks about son Nate, daughter Leila, and keeping things passionate with wife Regine Velasquez.
On Tonight with Boy Abunda, singer-songwriter Ogie Alcasid revealed how his five-year-old son Nate has become quite a star himself. “My wife was the one who really started it. Every time may kalokohang gagawin yung anak ko … kukunanan niya yan and post it and call it Natesionary. What happened next was suddenly, he had his own fan page, he had his own Instagram account made by his fans.”
Asked if he would encourage Nate to enter the business, Ogie said, “I won’t necessarily encourage him but I will not stop him from doing what he wants and it seems ang inclination niya is music and comedy.” Ogie added, “siya talaga among my three kids, he is a natural.”
His daughter Leila with ex-wife Michelle Van Eimeren is also going to be living in the country. Ogie related how this came to be, “they visited me last June. We went to Palawan, nagbonding kami ng todo and then nung pauwi na sila she was actually crying to me. Sabi ng Nanay niya she has to tell you something. She wants to stay here if you will let her.”
Ogie said he agreed right away and asked Leila why she has decided to live in the Philippines. “I like it here. I want reconnect with my grandparents.” Ogie added, “nakalimutan ko na dito siya nung bata siya, namiss niya yun lahat.” He also said Michelle told him, “alam mo gusto rin niya makipag-bonding sa ‘yo.”
Ogie and wife Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez also just celebrated their 6th year wedding anniversary. Asked “paano niyo pinapanatili ang init,” Ogie said, “hindi nawawala yung aming pagnanasa sa isa’t isa and I say that with love.”
Asked “sino ang unang nangangalabit,” Ogie admitted, “ako.” He also advised, “pati sa text.. daanin niyo sa mga text.” Asked “naglalandian kayo sa text,” Ogie revealed, “ako, sobra. Hindi pwedeng basahin.”
