Cesar Montano bares plans as new Tourism department COO

122416-CesarMontano_PUSH.jpgCesar Montano was in high spirits over his new appointment as Tourism Promotions Board's chief operating officer.

"I’m so excited. Bagong-bagong challenge ito. I like challenges, alam mo naman ako, mahilig ako sa maraming ginagawa," said Cesar in an interview with PEP.

Tourism Secretary Wanda Teo swore the action star into office last Tuesday.

According to the star, the position was offered to him back when he flew with President Rdorigo Duterte to China.

He shared that it was Bohol Governor Edgar Chatto who broke the news about the position and how it was "tailor-made" for him.

“Sabi niya, ‘Boy, tailor-made fit sa ‘yo yan, Tourism Promotions Board. Promotion ‘yan, Boy, sa domestic. Kahit saang lugar ka pumunta sa bansa na ‘to, people will regroup, magga-gather sila para sa ‘yo,'" he recalled.

What did he think of the offer?

Matawa-tawa nga ako, sabi ko, grabe, may opisina na ako, totoo na talaga ito," he said.

The actor added that his showbiz career will have to take a backseat in order for him to focus on his new position.

Among the first people he met as a newly-appointed COO was SBMA chairman Martin Dino.

“Interesado siya na magkaroon ng Disneyland o Universal Studios sa Subic, at makikipagtulungan siya sa akin," he said.

Cesar stressed that Subic is a conducive spot for a Universal Studios in the Philippines because "ang Subic kasi meron itong airport, may pier, may zoo, may ocean park, tapos may forest, may highway... lahat naroroon.”

But nothing is set into stone as of the moment.

“Yung insights ko will follow pagkatapos kong marinig yung mga data nila. Hindi tayo puwedeng magyabang na, ‘Ito ang alam ko, ito ang gawin natin,'" he ended.
