Paolo Ballesteros won the Special Jury Award for Outstanding Performance at the 21st International Film Fest in Kerala, India.
Paolo Ballesteros received another recognition abroad for his portrayal of transgender beauty queen Trisha Echevarria in the film “Die Beautiful.” After bagging the Best Actor award in Tokyo, Japan, he also won the won the Special Jury Award for Outstanding Performance at the 21st International Film Fest in Kerala, India.
Director Jun Robles Lana is very proud of Paolo’s success.
“Even though there are no acting awards at the Kerala International Film Festival in India, the jury was so moved by his performance that they decided to give Paolo a Special Jury Award for outstanding performance,” he wrote in his Instagram post.
Producer Ferdy Lapuz received the award on behalf of Paolo. The film’s Facebook page also shared that their movie became known in India because of an article on The Hindu, a local newspaper.
“Die Beautiful” is one of the film entries in this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), which will be released this Christmas, December 25.
