Lea Salonga’s recent column piece on Inquirer.net with the title “Respect 101” got a number of netizens buzzing.
Lea wrote that she was “infuriated” when she heard about what she describes as an “egregious violation” of respect.
“No one is ever above this cardinal rule of working in the arts, show business or any other industry on earth. Respect your coworkers, and you will receive respect,” she wrote.
The award-winning actress-singer stressed that movie workspaces ought to be kept sacred.
“Rehearsal rooms and film sets are supposed to be safe spaces for us to work in. In these rooms, we are at our most vulnerable, our emotions laid bare. That space is considered sacred,” she stressed.
The The Voice of the Philippines coach also reiterated the importance of knowing that you can trust the people on the set as an artist
“That’s how we are able to do our best work, knowing that we all, without exception, have each other’s backs. There is support from everyone involved: actor, director, scriptwriter, cameraman, crew member, assistants and staff,” she wrote.
“Alam ko na meron din akong pagkakamali kaya humihingi ako ng tawad kay Ping. Pare pasensya na,” he wrote.
